DnD Adventure Log
The Whispering Wall
Characters:
- Liren: Fierce Dragonborn barbarian with unmatched combat prowess.
- Aera: Cunning Wood-elf rogue, always seeking the next great challenge.
- Gumbo: Clever Half-Orc rogue, balancing strategic thought and quick action.
- Malron: Reborn cleric with ties to an ancient elven lineage.
- Zorpheus: Mysterious wanderer drawn to fate and prophecy.
Summary:
The party successfully defeats Winter Splinter, retrieving the coveted gemheart—but at a heavy cost, as its explosive demise claims Veyren’s life.
Seeking their reward, they travel to the Whispering Wall, where Strahd congratulates them on their victory against the forest folk and their handling of Ludmila, though he warns she will not forget the encounter. The wall, an ancient tomb steeped in divine mystery, offers visions of deepest desires. Strahd challenges them to enter, but warns that many souls never return.
Three accept the challenge:
- Zorpheus hears the prophecy confirmed.
- Malron discovers his reborn nature ties him to an ancient line of elven kings.
- Gumbo experiences the thrill of victory, cheered on by an unseen crowd.
Each hears a whisper behind them: “The way back comes but once.”
At the last possible moment, Zorpheus barely escapes before the gate dissolves.
Irena enters as well, emerging with tear-streaked cheeks, unwilling to share her vision while Strahd remains nearby.
Strahd grants the party mystical gemstones:
- Gray Stones: Cast Locate Object, leading to objects of desire.
- Silver Stones: Cast Misty Step, enabling swift movement.
Each chooses their stone. Strahd then produces a moth-shaped artifact—the Twilight Crest, imbued with powerful magic.
On the journey back to the winery, the party encounters a traveling merchant, Minofaustus, owner of a magical market filled with rare treasures. He warns them against bargaining too aggressively—or stealing. His most curious offer: a discount if they take Zorpheus off his hands, revealing that the rogue is a former thief.
Deals are struck:
- Gumbo exchanges gold and accepts Zorpheus as his servant in return for a Cloak of Elvenkind.
- Liren and Malron obtain Gleaming Half Plate armor.
- Aera trades for a Shades Ring, but must repay Minofaustus with ten percent interest—owing another 500 gold.
