Summary:

The party ventures to Argynvostholt, preparing for a side quest before confronting Castle Ravenloft. Their mission is soon interrupted by dark revelations within the werewolf den.

Within the cave, they discover the Shrine of Mother Night, where they unearth a ruby medallion, gems, and gold—though the treasure bears a terrible curse. They also find Illya and Zurika, prisoners adorned with silver-thorn collars crafted by Baba Lasaga—powerful artifacts preventing their transformation into werewolves.

Illya’s story reveals a conspiracy: The Abbot deceived him, Strahd and Baba Lasaga aided Kiril in capturing Emil, their missing leader, and imprisoning him in Ravenloft’s dungeons. Zurika swears to free Emil and requests aid from the party.

The party accepts the oath, and Olfin retrieves the Symbol of Ravenkind, granted by Zurika in return for their promise to rescue Emil.

Escaping the cave, the party camps in the forest, only for Strahd himself to appear. His mood is unsettlingly playful—angered by their incursion into his ally Kiril’s den, he conjures a blood-filled hourglass, forcing the adventurers into a cruel game of sacrifices.

  • Zorpheus and Liren choose blood.
  • Aera drinks the blood, triggering her full werewolf transformation. Oogway swears he cast Remove Curse beforehand, meaning something even stronger was at work.
  • Oogway gives up his name.
  • Malron silences himself for a day rather than abandon his faith.
  • Olfin allows his weapon to be cursed rather than swear fealty to Strahd.

With Strahd’s twisted game concluded, the adventurers press forward to Argynvostholt, the ruined mansion of the Order of the Silver Dragon. There, they meet Sir Godfried Gwilym, who reveals the tragedy of their once-great order.

Strahd stole the skull of Argynvost, desecrating their memory, and Rahadin slew their commander, Hornguard. Sir Godfried warns them to stay clear of Hornguard’s chamber, avoid the fourth floor, and be wary of phase spiders dwelling within the ruins.

A cryptic prophecy lingers in their minds:

“Seek out the younger of the twin dragons above. Reignite the silver flame it once wielded, and remind it of the oath it once served. Do this, and the memory of the Silver Dragon may return to fill it once more.”

Key Locations:

Shrine of Mother Night: A cursed altar within the werewolf den, holding sacred but dangerous artifacts.
