Echoes of the Silver Dragon

Characters:

• Aera shan Ravanór: A cunning Wood-elf Rogue adept at stealth and navigating complex situations.
• Zorpheus: Mysterious wanderer and bard drawn to fate and prophecy.
• Malron Lichtstrahl: A Reborn Cleric of Lathander with a connection to spirits and the undead.

Summary:

The party continues their exploration of Argynvostholt, uncovering lingering spirits and artifacts from the once-proud Order of the Silver Dragon. In the graveyard, they find abandoned armor that helps convince the ghosts to leave them undisturbed.

Aera discovers a pseudodragon, which now follows her, seemingly drawn to her presence.

Ascending to the second floor, the party encounters eerie chills emanating from one of the towers. A spectral voice challenges them: “If you be servants of the devil, be gone!”

Here, they meet Minodora, a restless spirit who pleads for them not to aid Strahd. She shares cryptic guidance: “Brother Merik upstairs east galley—find his book in the west bedchambers. Read aloud the prayer.” Brother Merik was once the Order’s chaplain.

The party uncovers a table inscribed with the knightly vow of the Silver Dragon:

“I solemnly vow to uphold the virtues of the Order of the Silver Dragon, with honor as my shield and truth as my guide… In the shadow of evil, I shall be the light; in the face of despair, the beacon of hope…”

A journal page reveals the grim final thoughts of Lord Argynvost before his death in battle. In his last stand, he vowed to unleash his true draconic form and defend the valley with his life. He left his belongings beneath the tower’s watchful gaze, hopeful that others would continue his legacy.

Among the hidden remnants, Aera finds a concealed stone shelf behind a painting, revealing several treasures:

• Moontouched Rapier (+1 weapon, glowing faintly in darkness).
• Amulet of Knight’s Passage (key to suppress the magical curtain at Tsolenka Pass, preventing petrified vrock guardians from animating).
• Bracelet of Warding (capable of casting Sanctuary and Warding Bond, with charges that regenerate at dawn).
• Silver Tablet and Banner (historical artifacts tied to the Silver Dragon).
• Parchment Scroll (a letter imploring Argynvost to end hostilities and make peace with Lord Von Zarovich).

This scroll, signed by Andral, warns that further conflict will doom the land, presenting Strahd’s rule as a stabilizing force despite his flaws.
