In the Durst Manor ballroom vision, an amber shard at Elisabeth Durst’s neck flashed with her fury⁠2. In the master bedroom Aera opened a silver jewelry box glowing amber and found a shard with a note: Elisabeth had left it to weaken the Beast and soothe its fury⁠3. Aera set it in a heavy wooden chest⁠4, and later I held it up and called Walter’s name, with no effect⁠5. Argynvost asked whether any of us carries an amber shard. Aera does, and he warned her to beware how fiercely she gazes into its abyss⁠54. It is not our only shard: Aera also carries the Amber Shard of Seriach we took from Izek.
