Kavan the Blood Drinker
A figure of the first folk who wields a long wooden spear.
Malron’s Account
We first heard his name at the Wizard of Wines, where Mira had secretly arranged to meet him and Davian did not like his reputation. Veyren read druidic runes telling of Kavan the Blood Drinker, and Mira, who heals herself of any wound, called him up by dripping her blood. He appeared holding a long wooden spear, and Sverog offered him a wand in exchange for a powerful weapon, until Strahd rode up on his fiery steed in the middle of it all30.
At his cairn, an old place of worship, Kavan told us the legends of the Seeker, the Weaver and the Huntress, how the first folk split into mountain and forest clans, and that we must recover the Spear of the Huntress32. When Argynvost’s beacon flared over the valley, its light found his spirit at his lonely cairn, lifting his head in remembrance54.
