Zorya
Aera's pseudodragon companion, a tiny undead spirit she found at Argynvostholt.
Malron’s Account
When we first explored Argynvostholt, a pseudodragon found Aera and began to follow her, drawn to her somehow37. Zorya has been with her ever since, and she serves as Aera’s eyes in the dark43. In the chaos of the fight with Rahadin in Castle Ravenloft, Aera sent her to scout for Gertruda48.
Back at Argynvostholt with the dragon’s skull, she flew to Aera and tried to shape a skull with her claws, but none of us could follow her gestures and squeaks, not even Crusty, who speaks Draconic. Then, while Horngaard held forth at us in the cemetery mausoleum, she flew in and harried his face, and Aera climbed the wall and set the skull on its mount. Because of her, we never had to fight him at all54.
What she is
- Tiny undead, neutral good. AC 13, 7 hit points, walks 15 feet and hovers in flight at 60 feet.
- Hard to hurt. Immune to most elemental damage, poison and nonmagical weapons, and to nearly every condition; advantage on saves against magic.
- A ghost. She drifts through creatures and objects, and once a day, instead of dropping to 0 hit points, she slips into the Ethereal Plane and returns a minute later.
- Senses and speech. Keen senses (Perception +3, Stealth +4, darkvision, short blindsight). She understands Common and Draconic but can’t speak; she sends simple ideas, feelings and images telepathically within 100 feet.
- Silver fire. Her breath is a 10-foot cone of icy silver fire (2d4 cold, Constitution save halves) that even works on cold-immune incorporeal creatures.
- Misty Step. As a reaction, when she or someone beside her is attacked, she teleports, taking one willing creature along, who takes half damage from that attack.
