Father Donavich’s church in the village of Barovia, in terrible shape since the village was attacked. We brought Ismark’s father up to it in his casket, and found Father Donavich inside, low and out of sorts since he lost his Bronze Sunburst. His son Doru had come back a vampire and taken the symbol, and Donavich had trapped him beneath the church. With his key we opened the latched trap door in one of its rooms, fought the vampire below, and I staked it7.
Father Donavich performed the burial rites for Ismark’s father, praying to the Morninglord, and after the ritual a great swarm of bats flew from the church up to the west, perhaps toward the castle8.
