Tower of Khazan
A tower by Lake Baratok tied to the mage Khazan.
Malron’s Account
Szoldar led us to a tower in the woods beside a lake, with a purple and gold Vistani wagon at its foot warning trespassers off in Ezmerelda’s name. The door had no handle, only a red seal with Khazan’s name; Olfin traced the pattern of the signet ring on it and it opened16. The wagon was trapped. Inside the tower a platform lifted us between floors, and on the fourth someone had been living: a bed, a desk, a journal page in van Richten’s hand and a sketch of Rictavio’s carnival17. Van Richten later told us he had hidden there, in the tower at Lake Baratok, with Arabelle, and that the tower blocks magic, Strahd’s scrying included18. The runes we learned there opened Khazan’s own tomb under the castle47.
