Wachterhaus
Lady Fiona's manor in Vallaki, protected by a binding circle.
Malron’s Account
Lady Fiona Wachter’s manor in Vallaki, a grand house in its own grounds. Her dinner invitation got us in the first time, and we were shown to a dining room and offered wine or water as we liked20. There we met her family: her daughter Stella, hollow-eyed in a nightgown in the hallway, whom her brother Nikolai walked around the grounds, and the younger brother Karl21. We passed cultish-looking folk outside when we came back with Izek’s head, and Lady Fiona rewarded us from her armory and read to us from her family history23.
The estate is ringed by a binding circle that keeps out malevolent spirits. Olfin won Lady Fiona’s trust and she lowered it, and the truth came out about the spirit and her daughter. Her pet imp showed itself there, and her four fanatical companions joined us25. To reach the ethereal realm she dropped her wards and took us down to the cellar: four skeletons lying in beds, a pentagram on the floor, a curved dagger inscribed “in death”, and “traitor” scratched by someone who lived there before. She could not remove the markings but judged the cellar safe, and from its pentagram Victor carried us into the spirit realm27. When Argynvost’s beacon flared, its light found Lady Fiona on the sagging doorstep of her manor, tears on her cheeks54.
